NOW CASTING: Sports Anchor-Producer for the New York Post

SPORTS ANCHOR/PRODUCER

The nation’s best sports section is making a major expansion into daily sports video. And we are seeking someone who can be the face of this new effort as well as contribute production, development and writing skills to our editorial vision.

The NYP sports anchor/producer must have a can-do attitude. Someone who knows all the on the field news while also appreciating the odd and unconventional stories, humor and even gossip. The anchor must be a font of knowledge about major leagues sports, especially the hometown New York teams. Candidate should also be familiar with other emerging areas such as fantasy, sports betting, esports, etc, This person must be an idea factory with knowledge and savvy to suggest video segment ideas across all these topic areas. We’re seeking on camera talent that doesn’t need a prompter. They must be able to script their own copy and boost it when delivering on-air. 

We plan to offer news and commentary. Candidate must be equally comfortable delivering a fast on-air news summary as well as participating in longer form discussion and analysis. Must be an experienced interviewer, ensuring Q&A with newsmakers and other sports figures turn into shareable content. 

This is an opportunity to work with an iconic media brand as it continues exponential digital growth. New York Post has garnered more than a billion video views in the past year.

This job is located in NYC and will be in person once our New York office reopens.

REQUIRED SKILLS 

  • Demonstrated anchor/on-air experience on traditional or social media channels
  • Production experience on digital platforms
  • Previous employment at a sports publication or website a plus
  • Comfort with being a bit of entrepreneur in helping to build a new department
  • Ability to work closely with a production team
  • Open to working evenings, holidays or weekends if required
    Great editorial judgment to identify stories worth covering, social media savvy to make sure those stories get viewed
  • Must enjoy working collaboratively and accurately in a fast-paced but fun environment
  • Attention to detail and journalistic values of accuracy and fairness a must
